Rice Diseases present in the Uttarkhand  State

Seventeen diseases/disorders  (3 bacterial- bacterial leaf blight, bacterial foot rot & bacterial leaf streak; 12 fungal- blast, foot rot & bakanae, false smut, stem rot, grain discolouration, sheath blight, sheath rot, brown spot, narrow brown leaf spot, leaf smut, sheath blotch and kernel smut/bunt and 2 nutritional disorders viz., khaira (zinc deficiency) & chlorosis (iron deficiency) have been observed in Haryana. Blast and foot rot & bakanae have been identified as major diseases of scented tall varieties while bacterial leaf blight, false smut, stem rot & grain discolouration of non-scented high yielding varieties. Sheath blight, sheath rot, brown spot and kernel smut/bunt are gaining importance in the state. Narrow brown leaf spot, leaf smut, sheath blotch and khaira have been observed as minor diseases while bacterial leaf streak, bacterial foot rot and chlorosis have only been recorded. The detailed information of major diseases is presented below.
